Your new partial denture that was fitted by your dentist, Dr. Barton Barré, has been custom designed to restore the full function of multiple missing teeth. Your partial will require daily cleaning and maintenance to maximize its lifespan and maintain the health of the surrounding teeth.

Even though your partial is designed to fit securely in the void, many denture wearers like to use denture adhesives to secure the partial in place and block out food particles. If a few food particles work their way between the base of your partial and your gums, you will need to rinse them and any residual adhesive away. You can then reapply more denture adhesive to the clean surface.

You will need to thoroughly rinse your partial when you take it out at night to clean it. This will give you a clean, smooth surface so you can reapply the denture adhesive the next day. Then, you should brush your partial with a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture polish or nonabrasive toothpaste. Next, you should soak your partial overnight in water and keep it in a safe place.

With the partial safely put away, you should brush and floss your teeth, just as you would in your regular oral hygiene routine. Make sure to floss around the gumline of the teeth that are neighboring the partial.
