The Negative Impact of Sharing Your Toothbrush

Posted .

Did you know that flossing and brushing can help you prevent problems like gum disease? However, there are a few other issues that could actually lead to gum disease. For example, sharing your toothbrush, or borrowing another toothbrush, might actually leave you more susceptible to this issue? In fact, sharing your toothbrush could lead to many different dental issues.

You see, if you are sharing your toothbrush, you might also be sharing harmful bacteria that can cause gum disease. Unfortunately, your toothbrush can contain bad bacteria, especially if the bristles have become frayed. In general, we suggest replacing your toothbrush every three months.

Lastly, if you don’t have a toothbrush available, there are quite a few things you could do instead of borrowing somebody else’s toothbrush. In general, using your finger is a better option than using another brush. If you’re concerned about your breath, you could use a breath mint or mouthwash. Eating an apple or drinking tea could also enhance your breath.
